What’s it all about?

March 23, 2009

People have been asking me when I tell them I’ve started a blog, ‘what’s it about?’ Especially when I tell them the name. ‘Some sort of foodie thing? Will you be sharing recipes? Er no, it’s not a foodie thing, though if you want recipes try this one for size, courtesy of my good friend and former housemate Helen H (hello!):

Sausage in Cranberry and Tomato

Grill 4 sausages (any flavour will do, but not the ‘cheap can’t tell what kind of meat this is’ kind)

In a wok or a frying pan, add some olive oil, onions, mushrooms, peppers (and any other veg you might like to add – courgettes perhaps?)

Add 1 tin of chopped tomatoes

Add 1 small jar of cranberry sauce

Add the grilled sausages (you can chop these up roughly if you like)

Add some seasoning – all purpose seasoning/chilli powder/ mixed herbs works pretty well

Make sure well heated (cold/lukewarm food, never good)

Serve with potatoes or rice

Anyway, back to this blog. The reason I’ve called it Martha’s Kitchen is because I couldn’t decide on a particular subject that I wanted to blog about. There are various things I am interested in, food being one. So I figured I’d use a cooking metaphor to to describe this blog – a mix of different flavours (blog posts) to make you go Mmm.  Anyway I hope you enjoy, feel free to comment at any time.
